The art I make has always reflected change. Through childhood, college and now university my work comes back to the fascination I have of how time passes and the journey of capturing that. Through my years at Coleg Ceredigion studying both an Extended Diploma in Art and Design and Foundation in Art and Design courses (2020-2023) I experimented with interdisciplinary practices such as performance, painting, sculpture and design. These foundational skills have been invaluable during my time at Aberystwyth university and has given me an open mind when it comes to creation and using mixed media. 

Patterns, Photography, Flowers and Layers are all crutial features in my work. I search for patterns in clothing, wallpaper, blankets, crockery, architecture etc. Anything with an interesting texture or shape that catches my interest I will want to include it within my work. I love to use flowers as a metaphor for life. They start as a seed, grow into a beautiful flower, it blooms and then withers and rots away - just like every single one of us will eventually. The processes that go unseen are often the most important ones, such as photography and layering. I will build up layers with paint, pen, collage and cellophane. Photographs are always involved somehow - even though that may not be evident within the finished piece, they are the backbone of my process. I may have been inspired by something and taken a photo, looked back at photos of old bedrooms or digitally merged the photograph into my work using a lower transparency. 

My work will continue to be built up over the course of my life, as there will be much more to document. I think of my work as a time capsule, or a book. Showing how my life is constantly shifting, evolving and changing through the chapters; captured by words, paint and paper. Immortalising my experiences and capturing my ever changing existence in this world. Documenting my life in order to look back on, and for others to piece me together once I am gone. A life collection - that will take a lifetime to complete.
